LEOMINSTER -- Thomas J. “T” Miller, 55, of 13 Prospect Terrace, died Wednesday, Dec. 18, in the University of Massachusetts Medical Center, Lake Avenue Campus, Worcester after a long illness.

Born on Jan. 8, 1947, in Fitchburg, he was the son of John and Claire (Gagne) Miller. He graduated from Leominster High School Class of 1966, where he was a basketball all-star.

Mr. Miller worked at Simonds Industry as a welder for 32 years, where he was a member of the Board of Directors at the Simonds Credit Union, retiring in 2001. He also was a member of St. Leo’s Church and The International Association of Basketball Officials.

Mr. Miller started the summer men’s basketball league in 1967, and has been involved in the city basketball for more than 30 years. He was honored by Mayor Mazzarella in 2001 by having the basketball court at Bennett School named in his honor. He also founded the Leominster Youth Basketball Leagues.

Mr. Miller is survived by his wife, Irene (St. Pierre) Arbo-Miller of Leominster; a stepdaughter, Kristin LeBlanc of Leominster; four grandchildren, Joshua LeBlanc, Victoria LeBlanc, Breana LeBlanc and Noah LeBlanc, all of Leominster; a sister, Linda Barros of Leominster; a niece, Stephanie Barros of Leominster; two nephews, Arthur Barros and Chris Barros, both of Leominster; a great-niece, Skylar Barros of Leominster; two daughters, from a previous marriage, Jennifer Viau of Leominster and Lizabeth Johnson of Fitchburg.
